Woman's contribution in building of the society has many a times not been given due recognition. But women have proved that if need be they are capable of handling any kind of responsibility, in fact better sometimes, due to keen observation and sensitive nature. Women are in every field, from driving engines to piloting and what not. The stereotyped mindset carried from past now faces countering by daring and breakthrough achievements by women. Women's day is marked to acknowledge of their inevitable contribution in laying the basic foundation and further building of a society. So, Happy Women's Day!

Thanksgiving or Thanksgiving Day, presently celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November, has been an annual tradition in the United States since 1863. It did not become a federal holiday until 1941. Thanksgiving was historically a religious observation to give thanks to God, but is now primarily identified as a secular holiday.

The first Thanksgiving was celebrated to give thanks to God for helping the Pilgrims of Plymouth Colony survive the brutal winter.[citation needed] The first Thanksgiving feast lasted three days providing enough food for 53 pilgrims and 90 Indians. The feast consisted of fowl, venison, fish, lobster, clams, berries, fruit, pumpkin, and squash. However, the traditional Thanksgiving menu often features turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie.

Halloween (also spelled Hallowe'en) is an annual holiday celebrated on October 31. It has roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian holy day of All Saints. It is largely a secular celebration but some have expressed strong feelings about perceived religious overtones.

The colours black and orange have become associated with the celebrations, perhaps because of the darkness of night and the colour of fire or of pumpkins, and maybe because of the vivid contrast this presents for merchandising. Another association is with the jack-o'-lantern. Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, wearing costumes and attending costume parties, ghost tours, bonfires, visiting haunted attractions, pranks, telling scary stories, and watching horror films.

8 жовтня 2009 року відбулася урочиста презентація Англійського (a у найближчому майбутньому Міжнародного) Клубу Східноукраїнського Національного Університету (м. Луганськ). Новоспеченим Президентом Клубу стала Ткаченко Марія (FLEX alumni ’08), керівник - Клімова Наталя Іванівна, викладач кафедри теорії та практики перекладу романо-терманських мов. На зібранні були присутні як усі активні члени, так і майбутні учасники цієї англомовної організації, яка, окрім вдосконалення навичок мовлення, багато уваги приділяє творчості.

Уже хорошей традицией стало активное участие FLEX alumni в English club Восточноукраинского национального университета им. В. Даля. О самой презентации материал будет позже, а пока - маленький кусочек этого интересного "эвента" - песня Illegal в исполнении студентки университета, на мой взгляд, один из лучших моментов представления клуба.
